Boards & Teams
Working with others is a great way to get to know members of the church, build community and develop skills. Our teams and committees welcome the assistance and involvement of both visitors and members.
UU of SCV BOARD of TRUSTEES
President: Allan Hauptfeld
President@uuofscv.orgThe UUSCV Board of Trustees administers and manages the business of the church. The Board consists of four officers - President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer - and three at-large members. The term for each Board Member is two years and is staggered, with half of the Board positions elected each year.
OUTREACH
Team Leader: Trish Lester
Outreach@uuofscv.orgOutreach engages in marketing and PR activities to enhance the image of the church in the community and encourage people to visit and become members. Responsible for advertising, media relations, “feeder events,” and visitor relations.
SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE ("S&EJ" Team)
Team Leader: Barbara Cogswell
SocialJustice@uuofscv.orgThis team is a focal point for participation in activities that advance the causes of social and environmental justice. Additionally, their role is to learn while exploring the issues, then share what they've learned with the congregation.

WORSHIP
Contact Rev. Ricky Hoyt
Minister@uuofscv.orgHelps plan, organize and facilitate worship services. Responsible for practical aspects, such as the altar decoration, and also for helping shape the creative direction of the services. Arranges for guest speakers and lay-led worship when needed, and assists the minister in planning special worship events, such as memorial services and weddings.
MEMBERSHIP

membership@uuofscv.orgServes as liaison between members and church, ensuring the fulfillment of obligations one to the other. Duties include member retention, pastoral care, volunteer recruitment and leadership development.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Team Leaders: Maria Dean and Rebecca Kroll
ReligiousEducation@uuofscv.orgPlans and supervises the religious education program for both children and adults. Recruits and trains volunteer teachers, determines curriculum and classroom procedures.
JUST FOR FUN and JUST-4-FLAVOR
Team Leader: Susan Cooper
Just4Fun@uuofscv.orgPlans and executes activities and outings for the congregation that are purely social, such as parties, outings and trips to local attractions. Coordinates annual congregational dinners and meetings.

COMMUNICATIONS
Team Leader: Bill Gregory
Communication@uuofscv.orgResponsible for outbound communications to church members and friends. Puts together the monthly newsletter, works cooperatively with the Outreach Team to manage the church website, sends blast emails to the member and friend contact list. Works with the board to establish and maintain communications policies and procedures.
FINANCE
Chaired by Rich Jaffke
Treasurer@uuofscv.orgWorks with the treasurer to manage the financial resources of the church, advise and assist the Board on financial matters, and prepare the annual budget for review. Researches investment opportunities, monitors income and expenditures and makes recommendations to the Board for maintaining the sound financial condition of the church.
FUNDRAISING
Team Leader: Eve Bushman
Fundraising@uuofscv.orgHelps the church meet its yearly financial goals through a variety of fundraising events and activities, including passive income programs, merchandise sales, charitable gift solicitations, etc. Works with the finance committee and treasurer to establish financial goals for the year and to conduct the annual pledge drive.
SUNDAY HOSPITALITY
Chaired by Trish Paioni or Renee Foley
SundayHospitality@uuofscv.orgSets up refreshments for Sunday morning services and cleans up afterward. Purchases needed supplies. Recruits volunteers to bring snacks.
