Church Garage Sale Set for May 3

Moving In? Moving Out? Scaling Down? Cleaning Up?
Don’t throw away those items — donate them to the annual
Garage Sale!

Our annual garage sale is always a great fundraiser for the church! This year, it will be held on Saturday, May 3rd at the Hauptfeld’s home, 25730 Alta Dr. in Valencia.

Items will be accepted at the Hauptfeld’s house starting Sunday April 13, after the service. Each item donated should be clean, operable, and have a value of at least $2. A big thank you to the Hauptfelds for loaning us their house yet again!

We need you, too! There are lots of things to do before the sale. See Eve Bushman at Sunday service for details and info.

Can You Help with a Wine Tasting Fundraiser?

Some of you may have noticed the “Wine Tasting” photos in our
Fundraising slideshow. We are thinking of trying to get this together
this October. An event not only for UU’s but also for guests.

We can get some wine, provide the house, and a great UU singer. But
we will need volunteer help with making and serving food, pouring and getting more wine, decorating, prep and clean up. This wine event could put us on the right track for greater Fundraisers but not without the help from our congregation.

If you want to help you don’t have to become part of the Fundraising team or come to Fundraising meetings! Just let us (Eve or Eddie) know what you would be willing to
do! We are not up to the “clipboard” phase just yet but you can e-mail us at: Fundraising@uuofscv.org

A Fair Trade

It’s that wonderful time of year again…when the Girl Scouts of America will be selling you their cookies. And you’ll buy them, no doubt, because you believe in scouting and because, heck, you deserve a sweet treat now and then!

So, while your neighbors and friends are asking you to buy their cookies, you can return the “favor” by asking them to buy The Signal newspaper from our church!

This is the deal: If you buy and/or sell a Signal newspaper subscription through our church, you will pay the same price as if you ordered directly from the newspaper office. But a significant percentage of those subscription dollars will go back to our church.

Buy from Amazon.com

Buy from Amazon.com through any of these links and the church will get back a percentage (usually between 5% and 8%) of the purchase price!

Click here and go directly to Amazon.com.
Anything you buy from this link will be credited to the UU of SCV.

Or, follow any of the links below for recommendations from church members. An even higher percentage of your purchase will be paid to the church.

Register your
Albertsons grocery card

By signing up with Albertsons Community Partners, every time you shop for groceries and the store swipes your Albertsons card, UU of SCV earns a small amount of money. Small amounts combined can mean real dollars for church programs and services.

Have your Albertsons card handy and go to this Website: www.albertsons.com/cp/
Click on “login or register with your Preferred Savings Card” and use ID# 49001010801 for UU of SCV.

recycle
Children Help to Recycle

Bring your recycling (cans and plastic bottles only) the last Sunday of every month and the children will help collect. We will then take it all to be recycled and bring the money back to our church.

Every container you throw away is like tossing out a nickel! Recycle to save our environment.

Donate your old vehicle and benefit the UU of SCV Church!

Is it time for a new car? If you’ve considered donating your old one to one of those charitable groups advertising on the radio, here’s a better option, one that will benefit the church!

Visit www.cars4causes.net. This organization gives you the tax write-off for your donation and also lets you specify which charity will receive the dollars when they sell your vehicle. Yes, you may specify Unitarian Universalists of Santa Clarita! Our congregation will receive 50% of the gross sale less any towing charge.

If you have any further questions about how this is done, call Cars 4 Causes at 1-800-766-2273. It’s easy!
