Choir

Sundays at 9:45 a.m. Do you enjoy singing? Can you carry a tune? We have an informal choir that rehearses before service every Sunday. You’re welcome to join us any time! Just show up. If you’d like to receive the music before Sunday morning, contact our Music Director, Scott Roewe, and ask to be added to the choir mailing list.

Let’s Talk

1st Saturday of the month at 6:00 p.m. Let’s Talk is a discussion group for those who wish to share, listen, and learn from diverse opinions and points of view. In many countries outside the U.S., people regularly talk about religion, politics, and other “heated” topics. Let’s Talk seeks to start respectful discussions on “taboo topics” within the safety of covenant. The group meets at a member’s house, and dates are subject to change so watch the calendar. Topics for the following meeting will be decided by the group and announced through the newsletter and calendar.

Just-4-Flavor

just4flavorq2 sm2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. Just-4-Flavor is a dining group. We meet at a different local restaurant each month. This is a great way to meet folks and try a restaurant that may be new, or just new to you! Please RSVP by Sunday so that we can make sure to reserve enough seats at the table.

UU in Action Movie Night

2nd Friday of the month at 6:00 p.m. The Social and Environmental Justice team sponsors a movie night once a month. This is a fun and informative evening, starting with a potluck dinner at 6:00 p.m., followed by the movie and discussion. The movies span a wide range of topics and are generally documentaries or justice-themed movies on current topics and events. Recent screenings have included Merchants of Doubt, Inequality for All, Bag It, Shock Doctrine, and Foodmatters. Movies are selected by the attendees, and titles are announced in the newsletter and on the Team’s Facebook page. All members of the Santa Clarita community are encouraged to attend. Please RSVP so we can get an accurate count of attendees.

Drum Circle

3rd Friday of the month at 7:00 p.m. If you like drum circles and meditation, you will love this group! You are welcome to bring drums or percussion instruments, if you’d like, but it is not necessary as our leader has an impressive collection to choose from. He travels to Santa Clarita just for us, so a donation of at least $5.00 is suggested. The group meets at a member’s house.

Book Club

4th Wednesday/Thursday of the month at 6:00 p.m. The Book Club has become so popular that we now require two nights to enable good discussions (participants attend either Wednesday or Thursday, not both).  The club meets at a member’s home to discuss the “book of the month” and enjoy camaraderie and a potluck dinner. A book for the following month is selected at that time. Meetings are open to all (reading the book is optional!) Contact Susan Cooper BookClub@uuofscv.org to reserve your night.

Game Night

4th Friday of the month at 6:30 p.m. Do you enjoy playing games with a group of adults? Does playing Pictionary, Password , or other games sound like a great way to unwind from a hectic week? If so, this is the group for you! We meet at a member’s house while we partake of potluck snacks and a bit of wine. Only kids over 17 should attend.

Poets-in-Person

Last Sunday of the month at 9:45 a.m. A group for poets at all levels meets before church on the last Sunday of each month. Beginners and non-writers are welcome, too. If you’ve always wondered what it would be like to share your own work, THIS is the place to start. Original material only, please. For more information, contact  Poets@uuofscv.org.

Senior Section

Dates vary. A group for 55 and older. We get together for various outings and events. Watch the calendar and newsletter for announcements.
