We know how difficult it can be to come into a new church not knowing anyone or how things are done. The information on this page will give you a sense of what to expect. We want you to feel like an important guest arriving at a friend’s home and we promise to do what we can to make your visit a pleasant experience.

When to arrive
Our Sunday services start at 10:30 AM. You’ll be most comfortable if you arrive by 10:20 to get settled before we start.

Where we meet
We hold our services at The Senior Center. We have heat and air conditioning. We transform the space each week into a relaxed worship space by setting up chairs, an altar table and pulpit.

Where to park
The Senior Center has plenty of parking. The best lot to park in is the one on the east side (toward downtown Newhall), but if that's full, you can park on the other (west) side of the center.

On your way in
The easiest entrance to come in is the one by the east parking lot. As you enter, there is a Welcome table. There will be greeters standing at the table helping our guests sign in, which is optional. Signing the guest book will put you on our mailing list to receive our monthly church newsletter. The greeters will also help you make a nametag. Church members wear their nametags, too. The Greeters have a lot of information. Linger as long as you like. Make sure you pick up one of our church visitor packets.

At the door
Here there will be a greeter that who say hello and help you find what you need. There’s a table by the door where you can pick up an order of service and a hymnal. If you would like a cup of coffee, help yourself from the refreshment table we set up before the service. If you arrive early enough you might hear our small choir rehearsing, or our music director warming up his saxaphone. The bathrooms are down the hall.

If you bring children
We love children and have a full Religious Education Program that meets every Sunday. The greeters at the door can introduce you to the teachers. Children stay with their parents for the beginning of the worship service. About 15 minutes into the service the minister offers a children’s message that lasts about five minutes. After the message the children are excused to go to their classes. We have one class for young children, and a second class for older kids. We also employ a babysitter for infants.

During the service
Near the beginning of the service we take a moment to welcome our guests. You can introduce yourself if you feel comfortable doing so. Don’t be shy! Because our congregation is growing we’re excited to have new people join us and usually have several guests every week. During the service we sing two or three hymns, the minister preaches a sermon, there’s time for spoken and silent prayer and we collect an offering. The service lasts about an hour.

After the service
Don’t leave yet! Come get a bite to eat and a cup of coffee at the refreshment table. Church members and the minister will want to say "Hello!" and find out more about you. Check out the displays we’ve set up to see what we’re doing in the coming weeks.

To get more involved
Every month or so we hold a "New to UU" class after services, where we give a focused introduction to our church and the UU faith. You’re also welcome to join us at any of the activities or classes we offer. Check your copy of the newsletter or this website to stay informed. Or see the "Membership/Joining" page for information about joining the congregation as a member.

Of course the best way to get to know us is to come to church on a Sunday.
We hope to see you soon!
